Our company has different 'Reply From' email addresses than the email addresses our support requests come in to.

We used Outlook before osTicket, and that was easy as Outlook has a provision for a separate 'Reply From' address.

So, I added a provision to osTicket for a separate 'Reply From' address. (we use SMTP mail)

1st, using PHPMyAdmin, I added a new field to the ost_email table named 'replyfrom'. I just duplicated the settings from the 'email' field.

2nd, in \include\class.email.php,

below line 46...

46 $this->email=$info; I added...$this->email=$info;

...this selects the new field in our table.

And below line 71...

I added...

function getReplyFrom(){

return $this->replyfrom;

}

...I have no idea what this is for yet, I just duplicated it from the getEmail field above it. It's probably not necessary as I'm never going to getEmail from the 'Reply From' address, and I've made no other mods with getReplyFrom.

...This is where SMTP server chooses the From Address to send the email from. Here I am changing it from Username (userid) to the new 'Reply From' (replyfrom) address. (read below for additional mods to this)

...this updates the new field we added to the ost_email table.

3rd, in \include\staff\email.inc.php,

...This updates the - Admin Panel | Emails - Add & Edit emails screen with the new 'Reply From' field.

We can now reply from our separate 'Reply From' addresses. And, when we create a New Ticket, it is also generated from our 'Reply From' addresses, which is exactly what we want.

With this mod, your 'Reply From' email address must have the same password as your Username email address.

My limited programming skills did not allow me to implement this mod as I fully intended. Due to changing

'username' => $this->info

you must input a 'Reply From' address even if it is the same as the Username, as the logic will be looking for it.

I would have preferred an If/Else statement checking for a 'Reply From' address and logically choosing whatever is available. But I couldn't figure out the syntax: (see code from line 121 above)

And if anyone knows how to solve the If/Else logic, it would be greatly appreciated.
