I kept receiving email from osticket saying DB error #1054 whenever I create a user, though the users are created in the user directory. I don't know why I kept getting those emails.

    Since I can't replicate the issue I would say that there is something wrong with your database.
    If it were me I would drop the contents of the ost_user__cdata table.
    Then search for a user to re-populate it.

    And then test to see if the issue is resolved.
