Hello,
I have been trying everything to get our email sending working again. We just upgraded the system to the above version from 1.10.X. We also just turned on tls for our LDAP Plugin, i tried turning that off again but it did not help.. For the upgrade we also had to upgrade PHP from 5.5. I have attached the current settings for our email below, the only difference from before is that authentication required is set to no. When set to yes we get the message: authentication failure [SMTP: STARTTLS failed (code: 220, response: 2.0.0 SMTP server ready)].I have also seen another post with the solution being to add this, https://github.com/osTicket/osTicket/commit/4f68aeb3fd746a18c598689b8b428db49faa7613 to a file. However the file in question already has that information.

Your problem could be this.
osTicket does not officially support PHP7.4 at this time. They support 5.6 to 7.3. So I would suggest that you downgrade to 7.3 and retest. If that does not fix the problem then the problem could be in the SMTP settings. The port number that you are using is not one that uses TLS/SSL. Port 25 is non-encrypted. usually TLS is 587, and SSL is 465.

I have downgraded to PHP 7.0.9 due to it already being on the server. I have also changed the port and exchange settings to use port 587 I still get the same error. In the exchange log I am getting a error "TLS negotiation failed with error CertUnknown".

I have changed a few settings and now using port 587 exchange log is giving me a "Remote(SocketError)". Usually when this happens I have to view the log file from the other side. Do you know where i could find the log file for the emailing?

I have resolved the issue by following this post https://forum.osticket.com/d/95693-resolved-osticket-1-12-2-smtp-problem-smtp-starttls-failed. the exact solution is this from orik3110.

"here is the solution. open "/include/pear/NET/SMTP.php" and replace to this

ramrajone Thank you, I already did that, and it didn't work, the problem is rare, there are email templates that arrive correctly and there are others that don't.
