We are currently using osticket to do work orders for a small school district. I would like to somehow archive all the closed tickets for this year and "start over" next year without loosing all the data. What would be the best way to do that? I am guessing I just do a backup of the database and then delete all the closed tickets. If I ever need to recover any data I can just pull it from the backup. But I am looking for alternative methods. Thanks for any advice you can provide.Shaun

If it were me, I'd do a dump of the database and I'd copy the osTicket files with the structure and put them away somewhere.  Then, I'd upgrade what I had.

I dont have a good solution for this, but it is something that I have thought about in the past.  I even toyed with trying to write a plugin to "move" tickets to an archive status and then relocate them into other tables, but decided that it was much too involved and time consuming.

Thanks @[deleted], I think I will just leave everything in place and keep on going.

@[deleted]: what is the archived status in the ticket status list? Why can't I enable it? That seems like it would be perfect for what I need.

Ultimately that's what we do.  Maybe in another three years if thing keep going the way they have been we might hit about 20k tickets.Archived status is/will be for something similar to that plugin I mentioned.

@[deleted]: I would like to be able to archive tickets every year. That would be the perfect solution for our school system.
