OSTicket recently sent an email containing a warning, there have been excessively many errors while processing mail (our installation uses a german language pack):>

<!

>"Übermäßige Fehler bei der Verarbeitung der E-Mails von x.x.x.x/osticket@domain.tld Bitte überprüfen Sie den Posteingang manuell."

The mail address suggests, the problem is ocurring when OSTicket is checking for mails via imap. There were no mails lost or skipped, OSTicket works fine, still i am curious why this happens. The Apache logs show no errors during the time the email got sent, the only information i have is the OSTicket log. According to the logs this kind of warning happened some times before.

OSTicket (v1.9.8.1) runs on an Apache 2.4.7 on Ubuntu 14.04.

Have you checked the mail server logs to see if you can get more information about what is happening when osTicket tries to connect via IMAP to check the mail?

I do not have access to the logs, but i was told there was no inconvenience. Is there any information about what triggers this type of warning?

Q: Is there any information about what triggers this type of warning?A: that would probably be in your mail servers error logs.

OSTicket has no access to the mailservers error logs, so how does OSTicket decide to send a warning?

Maybe you check to often for emails (e.g. every minute) and so osTicket displays that message or there was a temporary issue or something else. Since when I read your posts correctly it happened only once, correct?

Q: OSTicket has no access to the mailservers error logs, so how does OSTicket decide to send a warning?A: Correct osTicket has no direct access to your mailserver logs... but then that doesn't have anything to do with why I asked you to check.  When any application or server connects to a mail server... the mail server logs the connection.  (When the application or server tries to send an email that gets logged also.) If there is an error in the connection... such as an auth failure, protocol error, etc then it will be described in your error log.

There were about ten warnings on two days in november. As i mentioned earlier, i was told that there were no connection errors for the time the warnings appeared. From your answer i read, the warning occurs if there is any problem with the imap-connection, so i will just wait until the warning appears again and see wether there will be some log entries.
