When I create ticket from the agent panel, and add office@example.com as the user, the system doesn't send any emails to the Dist. list- new ticket created or any responses. The list office@example.com is all of the office workers that are affected by the current issue. Likewise, no other distribution list works either. I have lists of everyone@, shop@, office@ sales@ etc...

Can you confirm that under Admin panel => settings => Autoresponder there are checked boxes for new ticket?When it fails to send emails, does it write anything to the system log? (Admin panel =>Dashboard =>System Logs)

Would sending email to this "distribution list" result in a loop.  i.e. Email gets sent to address that osTicket checked, which would update the ticket, which would send an email to the ....

ntozier- no this list just contains all the front office staff. OST only check its own address i.e. support@example.comCharlesB- yes the correct boxes are ticked. see screen shot below

Ok i think this is the issue. The system can't log in to the SMTP server. OST isn't sending anything outgoing.

no firewall that i know of (OST is hosted on go daddy servers)log in is correct
