Hi I am an intern of a computer and internet service center. We are currently using osticket version 1.6 for 10 years, so we would like to upgrade to the new one. I would like to know if by installing the new version of osticket we can still see the historical data on the database created by version 1.6 of osticket; obviously using the same database. Is the data kept and read or is it overwritten?
[resolved] Database osTicket v1.6 to v1.15.2
Are you running 1.6ST?
The data is kept. I upgraded my 1.6ST to 1.7 years ago (and have since pretty much kept up with the latest version since 1.10.)
I wrote an article about it at the time (back in 2013) that is available here:
https://tmib.net/how-to-upgrade-osticket-from-1-6st-to-1-7rc4/
As a side note you should be able to upgrade from 1.6ST to current (1.15.2) in one go. Please make sure that you back up your site and database before you start though. I haven't tried upgrading from 1.6ST in a really long time... but I've been told by the Devs that it should work.
As a side note the pre-requisites for running osTicket have changed a lot over the years. So you will need to upgrade your PHP and possibly your MySQL as well.
If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to update this thread.

Ok I succeeded after various problems with Aruba on updating the Mysql version to the latest one. However, I was unable to directly upgrade from v1.6 to v1.15.2. In fact I had to upgrade my version 1.6 to 1.7-RC4. Later I had to upgrade from v1.7/RC4 to v1.14 because both versions support php 5.6.x. I managed to update osTicket to version 1.15.2 because, together with v1.14.6, it supports php version 7.4.x. Thanks a lot ntozier for your help.
Very glad to hear that your all updated. I'll mark this thread as resolved and close it.
Please feel free to start a new thread if you have another question, etc.
