Compile Crowdin language files to phar

Hello everyone,

From what I learned we have two options to use language files. Use the provided .phar files which are outdated (in my case) or help with the translation in Crowdin. The problem is that I want to use the latest changes from Crowdin.

I opened a ticket, which pointed me here: https://github.com/osTicket/osTicket/blob/develop/include/cli/modules/i18n.php and here: https://github.com/osTicket/osTicket/blob/develop/setup/doc/i18n.md.

The problem is, there is no way to compile the translations from Crowdin without a project API key apparently.

So, what's the way we are supposed to pick up the files from Crowdin and compile them into our own phar file?

You will have to wait until the devs compile the language packs for a new version release. This is when the downloadable language packs are updated on the download site.

Your only alternative is to download one of those packs, unphar it, and alter it to your specifications.

You cannot get the files from crowdin and package them yourself.

@ntozier Thanks! Though, being osTicket open-source it should be possible for devs to compile the phar file from the source and test things out. Directly editing a unpacked .phar file is just non-sense.

@PavelH I already checked that out. The thing is, you are building a .phar from another extracted .phar. What I need is to build a .phar directly from Crowdin source. Also, there is no .po file in 1.14 version of my desired language, only 1.12. But I will look further into it.

Hey if you want to make things more difficult on yourself then by all means feel free.
Editing an unpacked .phar files is definitely not nonsense. It's gthe fastest and easiest way to achieve what you are trying to do. Regardless enjoy.

@ntozier The point here is, why should I translate the unpacked .phar from scratch where is already things done by volunteers (like myself) in Crowdin? The ability to use latest Crowdin data allows us to use our latest contributed translations instead of waiting for a new .phar (in which my case has not been updated for more than 1 year ago). Either ways, I will contribute as much as possible in Crowdin and hope for a new .phar release :-)
