Migration from osTicket (v1.12.2) to latest vesrion

We don't have expertise in mySQL and PHP platform. Currently we are using osTicket (v1.12.2) and mysql 8.0 . We do not have test setup. Need step by step guide for up-gradation of osTicket platform. In this request you to cover following points.

Taking backups of DB as well as application.
Steps to be followed for DB migration.
Steps to be followed for application migration.
Checks to be performed after migration.
In case of any issue, how to restore application and DB from backup.

@KevinTheJedi the guide seems to be focused on Upgrade. I cannot see any details specific to migration. Can you please advise if migration is going to be different from upgrading? I will be migrating from 1.12 to the latest

Migrating to a new server? If so it's the same steps only you setup the new code on the new server, import the old database on the new server, copy over the old ost-config.php file, and update the ost-config.php file for the new MySQL instance.

Kevin, I mean going from version 1.2 to version 1.7. The guide states that we should follow a migration process rather than upgrade in this case. Same server
"Only previous versions from version 1.6 RC1 can be upgraded to the current version.
If your osTicket version is older than 1.6, you need to look into migration instead."

macsoluk @KevinTheJedi is still correct in the method. Think of Migration as a clean install vs upgrading. The steps he listed are valid for migration. You can probably do a migration on the same server, but its always recommended to go to a new server so that if you are unable to get the new version working then you still have a production server that is functioning.
