no, I didn't try editing the new agent template

Go to:
Admin panel -> Agents -> Templates
Click on Agent Welcome Email.
Check the template to see if someone else edited the template.
You might want to paste the contents of the template here.

    Hi %{recipient.name.first},
    We've created an account for you at our help desk at %{url}.

    Please follow the link below to confirm your account and gain access to your tickets.

    When you go to the template above, it should look like this:

    Now, when you click the link you will get a popup to Edit like so:

    Once you click Edit you should see the link Text and URL which should look like:

    If your template is the same then you will need to also check Admin Panel > Settings > System > Helpdesk URL to see if this is accurate.
