michelandre If the translations are incorrect, it would be helpful to everyone if you have a bit of spare time to correct them at https://crowdin.com/project/osticket-official - future French osTicket users will thank you 😇
It'll also mean you don't have to repeat your correction work again when the language packs are updated!

Hi again RGBE.

I downloaded source version 1.11 so to be able to update in PoEdit.
I found out that there are about 400 missing translations compared to the downloadable fr.phar.
If I am able to do that, why osTicket does'nt do it ???
And I am pretty sure that some are not coded to be translatable...
I will spend some time in this translation just to see what's in it that are not translatable.

I found a way to convert messages.mo to messages.mo.php but it is quite hazardous using a php program.
I am still waiting for someone to give me a real one line example using phar command to pack the toto directory into fr.phar...

After that, if my friend still want to use osTicket, I will make a document about it and post it on my web site.

I will keep you informed,

Michel-André

Your example command is: <?php $phar = new Phar('fr.phar'); $phar->buildFromDirectory('./Extracted'); ?>

Hi PavelH,

Thank you for your reply and you files.

I will update to 1.12 and see what will happen.

Michel-André

Hi all,

I almost finished the translation to French.

  • I dowloaded the source code of version 1.12.2.
  • With PoEdit I updated from source which gave me a few missing strings to translate.
  • I translated the missing strings.
  • I converted the message.po to messages.mo.php which is working perfectly.

My last problem:
I want to translate the below texts pointed by red arrows but cannot find where to do that.
Those strings are not in the source of messages.pot from osTicket.

Any suggestion appreciated,

Michel-André

Hi all,

I finally got the first one.

Now, the second one - I cannot find a way for it 🙁

The current running version is now: 1.12.2.

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated,

Michel-André

Hi PavelH,

Then why it is not in the .pot file?

Michel-André

Because templates are stored in database

Hi again PavelH,

I never saw a translation string that you have to edit the DB to translate it.

A real amateur way...

Miche-André

No, you are wrong.
You can translate it in editor - see your last picture.
Any changes are stored in DB.

Try to change the paragraph in the magenta rectangle above with the editor and after that I will take it that I am wrong... until then, I still call osTicket an amateur software as far as translation goes...

As you wrote, the only way to translate it is in the DB. I used PhpMyAdmin to find it; that is where I stopped looking at osTicket.

Also, look at all the spam in the forum. I never saw something like that in a real professional forum...

Michel-André

My translation in templates is working without any problems.
Translations in PHAR files is created by amateurs, not devs. Only US is original translation.
I have experience with other ticket systems, such as GLPI. I see osTicket as one of the better ones. And it's free.

Hey @PavelH, I am also trying to unpack some language files (.phar) to alter some wording, but I am finding it hard to do it. The tool you shared above is not accessible anymore. Would you mind putting it back or sharing some tips ?

Best,
Julien
