I will be changing to a new hosting provider and New Domain Name, and wanted to know how I can transfer My data base AND how I can point my OsTicket to my New Domain Name.

As far as the folders and files, I assume I can just copy them from my old Ftp domain, to my New Ftp Domain.

Can anyone help please?

rmichel there will be database also need to be backup and restore, but between cpanel account if you use cpanel, it can assist by hosting admin to move the account, cpanel moving tools will backup and restore full data (file and database also)

      lewi.

Thank you for your reply, the biggest information that I need to know, is once the data is restore, what File do I need to edit so I can give it the new URL from the new hosting provider.

Example: right now in order for me to login my url is: www.pcclubenlinea.com/soporte/scp and my new url from the new domain once I move all the files and folders should be: www.pconline.com/soporte/scp so my question what File do I have to edit so I can tell it to point to my new url ?

You log into the instance and set the Help Desk URL.
Admin panel -> Settings: Helpdesk URL

          1. Ok I found the upload/include/ost-config.php with no problem and I do see at the botton where there is the name of the Database and password, but my question is what do I do with this file?

          1. I do Not see the settings.php in the scp/settings.php, and that is why I cannot configure the https://domain/scp/settings.php because it is not found.

          Please help!!!

Thanks for your reply, what do you mean by logging in to the Instance, where do I see that? Can you give me the path?

In regards to Admin panel -> Settings: Helpdesk URL, where do I find this....Im using Cpanel?

          Please help!!!

You log into osticket using the URL that you setup for it and adding /scp to the end.

Thats what exactly I need to know how to change that new url path once its change to my knew hosting provider. What file is the one I need to edit so I can change and point the knew domain name?

            You do not.

You go to the URL you setup for the new site. site.tld/scp
            You log in.
You go to Admin panel -> Settings
            You edit Helpdesk URL.

It's not in a file. It's in the database.

Ok thanks for the info. Right now, Im on my old domain which is still active. I have gone to Admin panel -> Settings
and I see the Helpdesk URL. From here I know I can change the URL to my new domain, but what would happen if I change the URL to my new domain name and if it fells, how I can go back and be able to log in to change it like it was before?

Then you would have to edit the ost_config table to update the URL.

Ok, I have done a search under the folder where the osticket sits on and the ost_config was not found. Do you happen to know the path where I can find that ost_config file?

                ntozier

I found the file that you are saying and the reason I couldnt find its because the path is different, its under ost-config. I have gone inside the file and I do not see anywhere where I can change the URL settings in case something goes wrong.

Attached I will post whats inside that file so you can see it, to see if you see where I can change the path url.

Im new at doing this change in osticket, which by your comment I would need to know please more informacion on how to access it from the data base, your help is really thankful.

You should not need to access the database.

You setup a new site on a new server. You copy the database to the new site. You setup a db username and password. You copy the site files to the new server.

You go to the address of the new site that you created with /scp appended to the url.
                    You log in.
                    You change the setting.

If for some reason you need to access the DB then you wil have to use your favorite 3rd person software to use the username and password and DB host to log into it. I can't really tell you more than that. It would depend on what 3rd party tool you are using to access your DB.
