Hello,

I am using osTicket with joomla and was wondering if there was a possibility to make it so people can have an account on my joomla website and have the ticket submission be integrated so they don't have to fill out two seperate forms when using my website.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Synt4x

Steve, thank you for replying. I don't see raise a support ticket. Where is this located?

Hi,

Hover your mouse over 'Contact Us' and a drop down menu should appear, and it's the second option down - 'Raise Support Ticket'

Steve

I don't see how someone could have a user account with your site and open tickets freely without having to enter in all the information all over again.

My goal is to have people open accounts on my site, have a profile so they can see their profile and subscriptions, then open a ticket when needed without having to re-enter their Name, Email, etc... over and over.

I love your layout though :)

Oh Yes!

Hi Synt4x,

Ah right, yes. Sorry, I got confused and sent you to the Public Area! :(

The good news.... yes, it can be done in Joomla! - There's a component in the JED called osTicky 1.7 and can be downloaded from here --> (http://tinyurl.com/osTicky17)

It creates a 'bridge' between OSTicket and Joomla! - so you'll need to know the mySQL database settings for OSTicket. Once installed and configured (make sure you read the documentation becasue it requires some changes to Joomla! ACL to allow posting), you create a menu item to 'open a ticket' and another to 'view the ticket' and that's it!

You can go one step further, if you have different departments or support levels in OSTicket, you can select the relevant level in the menu, and the user cannot change the help topic, so any tickets submitted with automatically go to that department.

Add in Joomla!'s ACL and you can even setup different levels (Public, Bronze, Silver, Gold). A word of warning though, any tickets raised outside of Joomla! i.e via email cannot be viewed in Joomla! after the user has logged in - this is due to the way OSTicky uses Joomla! ACL.

If you want to give it a try, let me know, and i'll PM you the login details to my test account so you can try it out!

Any problems, give us a shout! Thank you for your kind comments about the layout, make all the hours getting it to gel together, worth it! lol

Hope this helps!

Steve, thank you for all of this, I am going to try it out.

I have two questions though.

1) How did you integrate your osTicket with joomla?

2) You said 1.7 above, I am using 1,6. Will this cause an issue?

Thank you,

Synt4x

Hi,

No problem! :)

1) How did you integrate your osTicket with joomla?

My OSTicket installation lives on it's own subdomain, has it's own database connection - well away from Joomla! - if you're database it hacked, you could lose the lot! :( - If you mean how I done it into Joomla, you go to

Menu --> --> Add New Menu Item

Under 'Menu Item Type' click on 'select' and under 'osTicky (osTicket Bridge)' you should see 'New Tickets' and 'Tickets List' - these are the two item menus you need.

Once you've selected 'New Tickets' then on the right handside, under 'Help Topics' you should see your departments - select the one you want the user to raise tickets against. Make sure the menu is 'published' and set the relevant 'Access Level'. Click 'Save and Close'. :)

2) You said 1.7 above, I am using 1,6. Will this cause an issue?

osTicky was recently updated to support 1.7RC3 (I think) but this version works OK with OSTicket 1.6 :)

I am going to try this, but the link to download osTicky doesn't have any download section to it. It directs me to joomla extensions download area where the osTicky page is, I click download and get to a russian page. I translate it to english and do not see the download :(

Maybe the site no longer exists? Can you supply the download by any chance?

Not good :(

Oh no, that's not good.... sorry mate... :( - Yeah sure, no problem - send me your email address via PM and I'll email it to you. It's only 128k so rather small.

Because the documentation has gone as well, I'll have a look at my installation, and will let you know what to change! (and include some screenshots) :(:)

Steve

Please let me know if you got my PM or not. I don't see it in my sent folder.

PM

Yep, I've got your PM OK :) - I replied, but I'm unsure if it went or not! lol :

I'll try and get the info to you later this evening! :)

Regards

Steve :)

Does anyone else have other ideas? The os tiky isn't that great!

Maybe the site no longer exists? Can you supply the download by any chance?

Osticky 1.7

Compatible with 1.6 and 1.7RC3 (according to site) and Joomla 2.5

I just downloaded the package fine.

I don't know what happened but the joomla user account is now integrated with osticket. I think installing os tiky and not enabling the addons made this work. It is a great temp fix :)

a month later

osTicky download

A new version of osTicky is available for download. It is located on another server (the old one had problems and was offline too often)

http://smartcalc.es/J3(http://smartcalc.es/J3)

Current versión Works on Joomla 2.5 and 3.0 and supports both osTicket 1.6 and 1.7

6 days later

Why not take a look on a brigde for Joomla! 2.5 http://tinyurl.com/bujks8r(http://tinyurl.com/bujks8r) thisbrige are free, try it out.

Best regards
