I am new to osticket 1.8.x but have installed it with xampp and configured SMTP settings, Departments etc. My challenge is setting up osticket to be able to create tickets when an email is sent to a support email address specified. I also need help to ensure the sender receives the email with the ticket number. Please help me with the step by step guide. I see there is a script api_ticket_create.php but dont know how to use it.

Just for the record, the current version is 1.9.12 (http://osTicket.com/download) and so before starting with an old 1.8.x version, you should go with the latest version instead ;)

Beside, please don't use xampp - a lot of people are having issues with it (sooner or later) and so I suggest to better use IIS or Apache.

Regardless of the things said above, could you tell for what exactly you'd like to have a step by step guide?

Chefkeks, thanks for the response. I would like the step by step guide of configuring osticket to send auto responses with ticket numbers to requests sent to a set support email address

step 1: install osticket on a fully configured server running a webserver software with PHP and MySQL.step 2: ensure the autoresponses are enabled for new ticket.step 3: open a ticket (with a valid email).

Thanks ntozier. i am able to create tickets from the browser. is it possible for tickets to be created by sending an email to the support@xxx.com mailbox and the email with the ticket sent to the requestor?
