Hello,I was wondering, is there a mod that enables multi level help topic selection? The help topic selection would then be smaller and simpler since only level 1 would be visible in the first stepfor example, I would like to have the setup like this (it is already possible):HELP TOPIC 1 (custom form 1)---HELP TOPIC 2 (custom form 2)then have multi-level selection on ticket creation:select HELP TOPIC 1, then select subtopic HELP TOPIC1.1.I hope the question is clear enough...Thanks!

You do not need a mod to do this? You use Help Topic.Help Topic adds custom forms. Each form can have a separate list.

Hello,

Obviously I did not write the question clear enough, sorry for that.

The problem is that I will have a lot of help topics, about 20 or more. But if you look them through first level, they could really be in just 4 or 5 main topics.

For example if I have it like this:

Application X

--- access problem

--- new user

--- bug

Application Y

--- question 1

--- question 2

--- bug

I will have 6 help topics to choose when creatin new ticket. It is almost ok, but what if the topic number increases to 20? It would increase the possibillity for the client to make a mistake (wrong choice).

This is the reasonI would like to have at leadt two steps in choosing the help topic.

In that way I would have to choose from application X and application Y at the first step, then if I choose application X, I should be able to see only application X children in the next selection dropdown.

Am I more clear now? I think it would be a good addon, but dont know where to start from.

Thanks :)

If I'm not mistaken, it's not possible currently and so you'd need to alter the source code to achieve this.

I know that, I thought there is a similar mod already made that is why I posted this...Anyone know where to start to help me a bit and save some time? I am really new to OSTicket so I would need some time to explore the source code...Thanks

1. Create the following Help Topics - Alpha - Beta - Gamma - Delta  - Epsilon2. Create the following custom forms. - Alpha - Beta - Gamma - Delta  - Epsilon3. create custom lists add to forms you just made.make list add to Alpha.--- access problem--- new user--- bug make list add to Beta--- question 1--- question 2--- bugmake list add to Gamma--- question A--- question B--- question Cmake list add to Delta--- I want a raise--- I want to sigh up for Health Ins.--- I want to sign up for Dental Ins.make list add to Epsilon--- Email--- Emergencies--- bug4. TestWith said lists added to said forms, and said forms added to the Help Topic of the same name.Client picks Epsilon.Client gets presented with a drop down list to choose:--- Email--- Emergencies--- bug

Thank you for your answer.

This solves my problem partially.

This way, I get another info about the problem which is nice, but what I

need is to show different form based on different choice a customer makes.

For example:

Customer chooses help topic Alpha and selects "access problem"

list, I need to show form like this:

username (required)

password (required)

but if he selects "Alpha" + "Bug" he doesn't need the

username and password fields, only to describe the problem.

Is this possible?

I would like the focus to be on the custom form, not on problem details.

The problem details should be treated as additional comments from my customer.

This is why I would like to have the multi layer help topic selection to be

made first befor filling the forms...

In that way, customer would have to choose one topic - then subtopic which

will finally give him the right form to fill.

Right now, my setup looks like this:

Help topics:

-Web Application 1

----new user (form 1)

----access problem (form 2)

-Web Application 2

----new user (form 3)

----access problem (form 4)

-Materials

----re-stock date (form 5)

----open new material code (form 6)

The workflow should be like this

Help topic choice:

-Web application 1

-Web application 2

-Materials

If he chooses Web application 1, he is offered another choice:

----New user

----Access problem

If he chooses New user user is shown Form 1

If he chooses Access problem user is shown Form 2

And like that for all options.

thanks again for your help,

you are very nice people :)

I dont think that you can do that currently. @[deleted] you have a better answer?

Unfortunately not, I recall that Jared, one of the developers, once said that such a feature would be really nice and I think he named it "dependent forms/fields", but currently such a feature is not part of osTicket, so all you can do is to try to reduce the number of forms/fields, but that's all, not less, not more.

Thank you for your time. Can someone perhaps help me a bit to try to do this myself? My idea is like this:In fact it could be done by making a hyperlink to the subtopics if the subtopics had different url...At the moment the new ticket subpage has always the same url /open.phpCan this be altered in order to change url extension for each help topic? Also, i would like to ask you is there a way to make the details form hidden from customer?I would like to make the custom form and captcha the only input for the customer, without any other options.Optionally, the descritpuon textbox could remain for extra input but it should definitely be optional, not required since all relevant data would come from custom form...How to do that? Is it already done with some mod? Thanks guys :)

Q: Can this be altered in order to change url extension for each help topic?A: Yes, but you will need to modify the source code / PHP files to do so.Q: Also, i would like to ask you is there a way to make the details form hidden from customer? How to do that? Is it already done with some mod?A: Currently not, but with the upcoming version 1.10 (no ETA) this will be possible.

A1: Yes but you will need to modify the source code / PHP files to do soQ1.1: Where do I modify? Need some hint...
