I've got the LDAP and AD plugin enabled and working for staff members and I'm using all users as guests. I noticed the other day that I had a bunch of "remote" users or user that had remove after their names and based on what I read this is saying that ad has picked them up. At this point though I would like to remove those users and just leave the guest users. Is this possible?

To add. I did disable the option for user authentication after I realized it was on but the names remain as remote.

Not sure if I understand you correct, but I guess you cannot remove the remote users since they are not really there. The remote users are users from ldap and that you can differ these from the local users. To really remove them, disable the ldap plugin. Alternatively provide a better description, since I am not sure what your actual issue is.

remove your search credentials from the plugin config?

I need to be able to use ldap for my staff members however I have unchecked the ability to authenticate actual users but the users still show up in the list of users.

Ah, remove the search function and it still allows staff in... makes perfect sense now and is working!! Thanks.
