Hello,

We just installed osTickets on our webpage, all notifications work except for the New Ticket Alert (kinda important, I know).

I read the sticky and see the below informational suggestions:

osTicket Version: 1.8.1

Mail Sending: ??

Mail Fetching/Receiving: ??

PHP version: ??

Operating System: Windows 7 / IE11

We are using the default php mail functions/settings. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,If you just installed this, why such an old version? The current version is 1.9.5.Regardless of the version, osTicket requires some setup/configuration in order to send and receive emails. Leaving it with "default" settings won't work.  There are docs for how to do that, but until you're on a current version, it's pointless to go into details.Jack

Additionally some wiki articles you should check out:

@ JackRogers - I'm not sure. Our developer installed this version; I don't know why.

@[deleted] - Thank you for the documentation. I will take a look now.

So, I've read all the wikis. I tried setting up SMTP email settings and I'm still unable to get the New Ticket Alert to function. To clarify, the diagnostic email works, the assign user works, the respond to email works, all of it, EXCEPT for new ticket alert. All of the settings are correctly set and none of the New Ticket Alert settings are set to DISABLED.

I asked the developer to upgrade us to 1.9.5.1. I will see what happens after that, unless anyone has any further trouble shooting to offer me first?

SOLVED- after switching to SMTP, I had to adjust all the setting from "default" to use the specific email account that was updated for the SMTP.

Great! Should I close this discussion and mark it as resolved?

Yes please. And thank you for your help!
