I have recently opened a reseller account with HG and transferred osticket to the new account. No matter what I try I am unable to get the SMTP settings to work in the admin panel /emails /sending email via smtpI was hoping someone had some bulletproof settings for the HG reseller account. For the hostname I have tried both the SSL and non-SSL recommended settings, the IP address, an IP they gave me and nothing works. Error: and this is on all ports that I have tried, 25, 26, 587, 465SpecificationsInstalled osTicket 1.9.3 (although it does say 1.9.2 in the system settings)Apache version2.2.26PHP version5.4.29MySQL version5.5.37-35.1

I think HostGator needs to help you with this. Someone else's info may not work for you, because it may be specific to your HostGator account.Jack

Thank you JackRogers. I have spoken with them about it and they appear to be clueless and if I mention osTicket they can simply say that they don't support third party applications. I will give it another go with them but in the meantime if someone is using osTicket on a Reseller account and want to share how they resolved this issue, if they had it, I would be very thankful.

Do you have access to a linux shell on your server? That would allow you to test an SMTP connection from the command line.Jack

Here's how to create a mail message from the command line (for testing).  It does not matter what SMTP server they're using, but you should do this from a Linux shell on THEIR server (not your desktop). If this doesn't work, the problem is with your host, NOT with osTicket or its configuration.Jack

I'd stay away from shared hosting when using SMTP. 90% of the time, you will have problems because it's just crowded on that package. blank
