We are using Linux with Apache and PHP version 5.4.22.You stated that it was already built into PHP from version 5.3 upwards, so am assuming I don't need to add it to the php.ini file?I did add the line to associate the .phar extension in the Apache httpd.conf file but now the browser wants to download the webpage file itself rather than display it.

Someone else posted their server info in the middle of your thread, and I didn't notice that it was someone else. /sighUsing the install package usually properly configures apache and php to work. If you did it manually there are probably other changes that you will need to do, like adding a mime type to your config.

I installed and then re-installed everything via FTP as a bare bones install. So not sure what might be causing this issue.

No, I did not install it as you stated above "The Phar extension is built into PHP starting with version 5.3.0" and since we're using version 5.4.22 I assumed it was already installed, etc. from you previous statement.
