How does one take 1.6 ST and install a "clean 1.7 version?
After that, how do you import the data? What files or processes are included?

you need export from phpmyadmin and import, but take care with the attributes name of the database tables...

btw... when it comes to valdiation, AJAX postbacks etc... I'm using JQuery for a lot of my custom pages, have you done the same by any chance? I'm weighing up the possibility of "upgrading" against my current custom build.

it might be worth running a delta from the 1.7RC against an existing install to merge the changes across - i've not made any significant changes to 1.6ST.

Its mainly visual differences, i've noticed the issue with IE9, i'm working on a fix for it atm, i've been busy on other projects

Used WinMerge to compare files and it seems to work fine with showing all the differences between the vanilla 1.6ST and 1.7RC (57 files modified)

The 'new' version will be published - currently not sure exactly where, but it will be.
And I would be happy the more people are willing to help me / the new version, the better it will.

this sounds great, after two days searching a good translation this could be my last hope in osticket ;)

But can you tell me more exact when and or where u will publish the new version? If there is a fork and more contributors needed, let us know, maybe some of us can help.

Basically: the new version will be ready within the next 2,3 days

Finishing currently something like an autoloader and (basic) split into a MVC.

Adding also something like a 'statistic' tool.

Whole package should be ready for publishing coming week.

For devs there will be a repo at GitHub or SourceForge (or something like).

Whoever will participate (as dev, translator, designer, etc.) is highly welcome, the more good persons are working on it, the better it will be.

While I'm very supporting of the fork - I have a couple of concerns.

Making it version 1.7 ((upcoming version of osTicket)) will be very confusing to users

I highly recommend moving the fork and discussion to it's own site and possibly calling it something else.

Once again, I'm totally OK with the fork - it's for the greater good. :)

To expand a little further on Peter's post. Anyone using this fork should be aware that there will be no upgrade path from the version that's being discussed in this thread to the official v1.7 once it is released. If there is a feature that you would like to see included in future OSTicket releases it is in your best interest to provide feedback in the (Suggestions and Feedback Forum).

In respect to the current developers of osTicket I would like to ask me here not furthermore (please use my own forum).

nb: the new (my) system will start with a different name and other numbering (to avoid futher confusion about the numbering ...).
