Update for osTicket 1.7

Is there a plan to update osFaq to work with 1.7 osTicket? Steps 5 and 6 from install manual (http://osfaq.oz-devworx.com.au/webpage/id/15(http://osfaq.oz-devworx.com.au/webpage/id/15)) are not fully applicable. osFaq works partially I can't acces osfaq admin page. I have got such error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function isAdmin() on a non-object in /var/www/osticket/scp/faq_admin.php on line 63

Any ideas?

Hi Tim Gall,
First off all let me congratulate you for osFaq, great mod with a great installer.
Last week I've downloaded osFaq v1.0.STABLE and installed it without any problem (great installer). I'm able to create a FAQ from the client module but I'm not able to create it from staff option. The application lets me add categories without problems, but when I create a FAQ, as a staff osTicket staff member, and click 'Preview' nothing happens and the FAQ is not added. If I create a suggestion of a FAQ (client module) everything works as expected.
Can you please help with this issue?

Hi, I saw your solution was installing the php5-xml extension.

In my case, I am running FREEBSD9.1 and had the same problem and already had the php5-xml extension running.

It turned out I was missing another extension - the DomDocument-Module. In installed the php5-dom extension as per follows and all was fixed.

cd /usr/ports/textproc/php5-dom

make install clean

osfaq button display in IE9

Hi,

I can't find this specific problem elsewhere, but I've installed osfaq and in IE9 the buttons don't display correctly (if at all) on the various FAQ Admin pages.

They still work if you click on them. Just looks bad.

I'm talking about things like the Back, New Category and New Faq, Edit, Delete, Move and Copy buttons - in fact pretty much all except the "show all yes/no" button don't look right in Internet Explorer 9.

Firefox and Chrome are fine.

I've installed php-xml, which resolved an issue where previewing a FAQ did not display anything, but this button problem remains. I know IE9 isn't all that popular in these parts ;) but a lot of our potential users do use it. Does anyone have any ideas?

PS - versions running:

osticket 1.6ST

osfaq 1.1-ST_FULL

php PHP 5.3.20 (cli) (built: Jan 3 2013 18)

Hi,

After installing OsFAQ and when I try to create a FAQ I'm getting "Error 503 Service Unavailable" when pressing "Save" or "Back".

I've tried reinstalling both the LITE and the FULL version.

Running on OSTicket 1.6.0

Anyone else having this problem or knows how to fix it?

Hello everyone,

Sorry for my absence but I wasnt receiving notifications of updates to this thread so seem to have missed quite a few. I havent been ignoring anyone deliberately. I'll check my notification settings in a minute.

Im working on making osfaq compatible with osTicket 1.7RC5 at the moment. Once it seems stable I'll go through this thread and attend to specific bugs/requests/questions.

After Ive got it working in the new osTicket release Ill work on updating the system to use some of the new and great technologies like Font-Awesome and a bootstrap layout (mainly for admin). Improved integration with osTickets KB is also pending as well as the option for people to migrate FAQs from osFaq to the osticket-KB .

A wordpress plugin version of osFaq is also in the pipeline but I do not have any fixed schedule for it yet.

For the moment I had better get back to the job at hand and will post more when I get the chance.

I have a couple of projects that I have set up that could benefit from a FAQ system that don't require a ticket system. I assume your updated version of osFAQ will be able to be installed stand alone without integrating it with the osTicket installation?

Hi Dan,

At the moment osFaq isn't standalone but thats something I have considered.

I will be setting it up as a wordpress plugin in one of the upcoming releases this year. If I can manage it time-wise I will look into making a standalone version as well.

If you need something standalone to do the job immediately, try phpMyFaq http://www.phpmyfaq.de(http://www.phpmyfaq.de)

At the moment osFaq is more suited to integrating with existing websites due to its self contained/modular design .

Hi Tim,

I don't run WordPress, did do a quick install a while back but that was it.

I did download and also did a quick install of phpMyFAQ, it's quite nice. I will either go that route or just install the osTicket / osFAQ package if you don't create a stand alone osFAQ installation.

New version of osFaq is pending

I should have the new version of osFaq released in about 2 days. That would be around the 4th or 5th of March (my time +10gmt).

I will post more information here and on the osFaq sites when its available for download. From this version onwards osFaq has a built in version checker so finding out when a new release is available will be much easier for people.

We at phpmyfaq are working on the developmental version of phpmyfaq the stable version 2.79 is about 2 yrs old.

We have been working on the developmental version for about 2 yrs now, and will be released as a stable version very soon.... we are currently working on 2.8 rc2, we will have 2 more release canidates before stable release.

so if you can wait a couple of months the new version will be released, it will include many new features as it is a major release. I dont like giving exact time frames as unforeseen issues may arise..

osFAQ v1.2-RC available for download

The latest version of osFAQ is available. It is not a service release but a major overhaul. A lot of attention was put into the look and feel as well as improved functionality in admin.

Admin lists all have quick edit icons on the right hand side that will take you directly to edit that item without first having to select it.

Theres a lot more changes but its probably easier to look at the screen shots or install a copy.

osFAQ v1.2-RC and above requires at least osTicket v1.7-RC5 or above.

The FULL download has it applied already. An bug was reported to me that clients couldnt browse the FAQ area after logging in using the link they get emailed with a ticket.

This problem will only affect people who downloaded v1.2ST between 2013-03-31 and 2013-04-03 (about 16 as far as I can tell).

Thanks for your compliment.

There are some new translations. I will try and get them to you in the next few days. Since most of them were small and I didn't know exactly what I needed until it was finished I used one of the online translation sites for the interim.

Theres also a small new section thats on the osFaq website for version checks.

I will put them together so its easy to spot the new entries. Will send you a PM or email when they are ready. Thanks for asking about the translations.

Hi Tim,

As you know I've brought this up before. If you do an osFAQ for Wordpress I hope you do a stand alone version as well. I currently have 3 sites and will have at least 3 more that don't need a ticket system but do need a FAQ system.

I know I could use say phpMyFAQ, however would like to stick with osFAQ if I could. In the past I've installed osTicket and osFAQ even though I only need the FAQ part.

I mentioned in the new thread that I will probably have to setup a dedicated forum on the osfaq website once the wordpress version is released. That will make it easier for users to get questions answered and interact more.
