2FA plugin not displaying QR code

I am new to OSTicket and have a new install running that has provided a challenge.

The platform is Ubuntu, OST 1.18.1, Apache2 and MySql on AWS RDS. All of which I believe are supported.

The 2FA plugin installed fine though when attempting to add a second factor to a user in 'profile' a QR code dose not display, after a delay of a second or so only the text "QR Code" displays as per the image below.

The logging does not report any error, though the logging at debug level is not very verbose. The error log, access log and php log all report activity though no error.

Any assistance in tracing the issue appreciated.

It basically generates a Google QR code URL and places that URL in an img tag. So check your browser console logs for any errors. You should also check all other logs like PHP error logs, web server error logs, etc.

From enabling and trawling the Firefox logs it appears that the app attempts to connect to https://api[dot]qrserver[dot]com requesting a QR code.
Assuming this is correct, is there an option to initialise the 2FA without an internet based connection?

Not without modifications to the plugin unfortunately. That’s the way our plugin works at this time. We do hope to improve all aspects of the software and plugins in v2.0 so stay tuned!
