I noticed errors sending email. I got errors in the system logs:
-Mailer error Unable to email via Sendmail Unable to send mail: Unknown error
-Mailer error
Cannot send email via SMTP: reklamacje@ddd.pl (tls://smtp.dpoczta.pl:587/SMTP) 4.7.0 smtp-3.dpoczta.pl Error: too many errors

Send mail error is because smtp is failing and it’s trying to use send mail as a fail safe however it doesn’t appear to be configured on your server. Really you need to fix the SMTP error and you should be fine. When in doubt reach out to your mail admin for further assistance and investigations into the mail logs.

this error does not occur all the time, only sometimes, so smtp is configured correctly

Well it appears there are connection issues or something during those times. The error you are getting from the mail server is Error: too many errors which is extremely vague. Please reach out to your mail admin to investigate the error further.

Then the issue is on the web server end. Strange as the error you are getting come from the mail server. Your mail provider should be able to tell you why they returned the “too many errors” error.

'm back with a topic. The mail provider claims that there was no attempt to send the message. Osticket is running on a machine with an IP address, e.g. 10.10.10.2. The user who uses osticket has the address 10.10.10.55. Why is the user's address in the logs and not the system's (10.10.10.2) or mail server's address?

From your logs it looks like the IP is not the user ip and instead a 102.xxx address. So your host is confused or something. Anyways, if there is no attempt made to send the message then SMTP is failing in the first place. You need to correct your SMTP information to ensure it connects successfully. Once it can connect successfully you can retest the sending.

I gave an example IP so as not to publish. Messages are sent only sometimes a message is not sent. The mail server claims that there is no attempt to send.

If there was no attempt on the mail server then that means SMTP is failing or is not configured. To resend a response click the dropdown arrow, click Edit and Resend, then click Resend.

How do I identify which message I have an error about in the logs?

You look at the timestamp and compare it to the responses you sent around that time.

I have 2 questions:
1- But when I have, for example, 3 messages sent in the same minute, how do I check which message was not sent?
2 - what if I start Osticket, 20 messages are downloaded and a system notification was not sent to one of the messages. In Osticket, I only have an error in the logs, but in this situation I do not know to whom the notification was not sent. How do I send the first notification again?

It wouldn’t be intermittent like that. If it were you’d be getting error messages in your system logs about the failure for each one. There is no easy way to tell which ones did not send and which ones did. You can always check the Sent folder of the system email to see which emails were sent.

Then SMTP is not working. When messages are sent via SMTP they should be in the Sent folder.
