Cronjob do not working/Searching for an good guide

there is a detailed guide, which is also up-to-date to create a cron job. Unfortunately, this does not work for me.

yeah ive already seen this guide but for me it dont work. Im using OsTicket 1.18 btw.
This is in my cron.php file right now: */2 * * * * root /usr/bin/php /var/www/osTicket/upload/api/cron.php
But it dont work no tickets came into the system.

Did you enable email fetching at the email level and system level? You configure and enable fetching per-email within the corresponding email’s configurations but you must also enable fetching globally at the system level (Admin Panel > Emails > Settings).

Other than that you need to ensure your path to PHP is actually /usr/bin/php and that it points to the correct PHP version. You can also run the command part manually via the server CLI to ensure it runs as expected. Lastly you can set your Default Log Level to DEBUG, run cron, and check your system logs for Cron Job entries. If successful you will see entries that state the cron job was executed [CLI].

Yeah well i dont know which php file i need. My Version is 8.2. I have following files in /usr/bin/

php
php8.2
php-cgi
php-cgi8.2

If your trying to run cron then i presume that you are running a *nix OS.
You should be able to google how to setup a cronjob for your specific flavor.
Chance are if you remove "root" from the string it might start working.
Or you will want to replace it with the user that your webserver actually runs as.

ntozier Well it runs on Ubuntu Server 22.04 at first. And i guess im able to google to do an cronjob. But well yeah it didnt work. But im trying it 😃

prplemk2 If you're using Ubuntu, your web server by default will be running as the www-data user. The example in the docs also suggest editing the system cron file, which I personally think is a bit overkill (obviously this is just my opinion). If you remove the cron job you already have and type the following, it should work:

sudo crontab -e -u www-data
*/2 * * * * php /var/www/osTicket/upload/api/cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1

Then save and quit. A few points to note about the above

it assumes your web directory for osTicket is /var/www/osTicket/upload/ - if this isn't true, change this part
I've just used the global php command instead of the full path as this means you don't have to change it during upgrades. Feel free to update if you prefer.
as Kevin suggests, if you run the command manually you should see the system working. If nothing happens after manually entering the command, check the settings in osTicket as cron will just do exactly the same!

RBGE yeah i have tried to put the cronjob command just in the terminal but nothing happend. Thats weird. I should look at the php logs (sorry for my bad english bc im german haha)

These settings are active. Auto Cron is working 😃. Should i reinstall php maybe or something?

prplemk2 I wouldn't reinstall PHP - if it weren't working, osTicket wouldn't either. Admin -> Dashboard -> Information will tell you what version is in use if in doubt.

From the information in this post, it looks like the issue is not with cron - if the same happens when you run it manually, then the problem is elsewhere. The screenshot you've shown looks okay - have you checked the settings Kevin mentioned earlier in Admin -> Emails -> Settings, and obviously the relevant authentication details for the mailbox in Admin -> Emails -> Emails?

My German 🇩🇪 is very rusty, so I won't try to guess what those menu options are translated to on your system 😇

RBGE yep i try it manually and it dont worked also. I post my installation infos about OsTicket. Maybe you find something 🙂. But the PHP Version should work bc in there docs stand PHP 8 - 8.2 for OsTicket 1.18...

prplemk2 The system looks fine, so at this stage I suspect your initial question about cron isn't an issue. When you say it doesn't work I assume you mean emails aren't being pulled into the system? Have you verified the individual email settings mentioned previously and the authentication details are correct? (Both in Admin -> Emails -> Emails -> <email address> -> Remote Mailbox)
