Error 500 when saving final setup steps

I am setting up a sandbox site for our OSticket.

The original site is at support.oursite.com

The sand box is at support.oursite.com/demo.
When I click on Install now, it immediately goes to "Error 500" and I can't seem to get past this. I've taken a look at my apache error logs but there is no information there for this error.

Unfortunately, Error 500 is simply a generic error the webserver throws when there is a deeper issue. You will need to check all possible logs (general server logs, webserver error logs, PHP error logs, MySQL/MariaDB error logs, osTicket System Logs, Browser Console logs, etc.) for any related errors.

OK I figured it out.

It turns out that for some reason OST did not like when I tried to use a remote mySQL it would throw this error 500.

I eventually setup a local mySQL db and it was able to successfully connect.

We don't care if it's local or remote; as long as we can connect and do the needed actions. Maybe your web server/database server has a firewall issue or something? Or maybe your database server doesn't allow the MySQL user you specified to login remotely or on that specific IP/hostname?

Anyways, you can easily supply a remote MySQL host by providing the hostname or IP of the remote database server. If it uses a non-standard MySQL port you can append it to the hostname/IP (eg. db-host:6033).
