You can always replace current codebase with latest and run the upgrader. Be sure to take full backups of everything (database, site files, include/ost-config.php file, etc.) before doing so so you can easily revert back if anything goes wrong. You will also need to make sure the needed prerequisites are updated before upgrading as well.
