Plugin instance config

When a plugin's method connected to a signal is executed, calls to $this->getConfig() are empty.

How do I get the instance, or id of the instance, which called the method? So that it can be passed into ->getConfig($instance) ?

Looking at some other plugins they use $this->getInstances()->first() which is not helpful as it always returns the first instance.

(I have two active instances and the method is called twice, so I don't want to loop through all active instances and process each as I will end up duplicating actions)

You can pass an instance ID to getInstance() to get a specific instance like $this->getInstance($id). Or you can grab all and grab the one you want.

On your class that extends the main Plugin class, do you have a bootstrap() function? If not, you need one to load the proper config for the instance.

Here are good examples:

Then in bootstrap() you can define the Signal::connect() statements or call another function that passes the config to the Signal::connect() statements.

But looking at this again you’d still need an instance ID like we do for the OAuth2 plugin for example.

Thanks for the pointers. I've found a working solution and I've updated one of my plugins. The code could be better but at least it now works (as far as my testing has proven).

I create an instance of the plugin class (for each instance) in the bootstrap function. Then set a property of that instance with the config. Signal is passed the instance rather than $this for the callback.
