Opening a ticket fails the first time

I am using the using version 1.17.2, mySQL 8.0.31 and PHP 8.1.2-1ubuntu2.6.

When a user opens a new ticket, ticket creation fails. The message that takes a second appears, then both the summary and ticket details are wiped and the following message appears.

Unable to create a ticket. Correct any errors below and try again.

After filling the summary and details fields again, a ticket will be created. There are no messages in the debug log, nor anything apparently relevant in the Apache2 logs, as far as I can tell.

Running version 1.17 with SQL 5.5.45 and PHP version 8.0.0, i am struggling since few days to solve a similar issue.
I click on "Open a new ticket" on the client portal let's say.
Fill in the details like Issue Summary and the rest and get below error:

If i fill in the exact same info a second time, the ticket is created and seems to be normal. Why does it not work the first time than....

I have made the change and so far it seems to work.

How about the PHP error log (if not combined with Apache)?
How about the web browser console?

There are no errors in any of the logs. Which is not surprising now, given that the problem is a logic error in osTicket itself. osTicket incorrectly invalidates the input because of a timeout that should not be one. Which I know, not because I found it myself, but because the resident Jedi master did. And apparently the solution will be in 1.17.3.
