I need to clarify a doubt.

Does email capture in osTicket work when someone is active on the system or is it through CronJob or otherwise?

I looked in cPanel and didn't see anything in CronJob in this regard. In my osTicket configuration panel it is configured for 5 minutes searches (image attached).

I made an application to carry out some procedures with the captured emails and I put it to run at dawn, but I realized that the emails had not been properly captured during the inactivity period.

Maybe I'm wrong and I need more tests.

You need a cronjob to automatically poll the mailbox to create tickets. Auto-cron is used when you can't do cron job and it's only triggered on agent activity. So go to Admin Panel > Emails > Settings, Enable Email Fetching, Disable Fetch On Autocron, and Save Changes. Then you need to follow the below to create a CronJob:
