Custom column not sorting correctly

I have a queue with a custom column called "Step". This column is configured to use a list. The list has options called "1-New", "2-Eval", "3-Code", and so on. I used numbers so that sorting by this column would show the logical sequence of steps in order. However, when I sort by this column, they are not in sorted order. I suspect the sorting is being done on the sequence in which I created the list options because I think I created "2-Eval" before adding "1-New". Any thoughts on why sorting is not working? Thanks. You are not sorting on that column, you are sorting on the Ticket Number.

Yes, a custom field called "Current Step" on a custom form is configured to use a custom list called "Steps". The list has the options in manually sorted order. Changing it to alpha short didn't make a difference. (I think this is just sorting of the dropdown options.)

Okay probably a bug where we are using ID instead of the sort order.

I thought that may be the case. I thought about deleting the list and creating the options again in order, but I would lose my current selections.

Do I need to report this somewhere?

We use the IDs to sort not the actual sort order, so yes, this is a bug.

I don't think a patch has been made for this yet. If a pull is not made/merged before the next release is made then no, otherwise yes.

I looked at the github for osTicket and

Did not see this problem listed as an issue. Should I add an issue for it?
Could not find the release scheduled. Any idea when the next release will be coming out (in hopes the fix is included)?

I'm not up to speed on how osTicket is developed and maintained, so hopefully these are not dumb questions.

Yes, you can create an issue report for it as it's been confirmed. However, in the future, only do so once actually confirmed to be a bug otherwise it adds unnecessary clutter/confusion.

We don't have scheduled releases nor do we ever give release dates. The next release is coming soon; we have to work some things out beforehand.
