Migrate data from one instance to another

I have 2 instances of osTicket installed currently. One of them has been in use for quite some time and has a bunch of tickets, and users etc... I was wondering what the easiest way to go about moving all the data/information from one installation into the new one I have just setup.

Are you asking if you can import all the data from the old system to the new one? If so you can do so however all data in the new system will be overwritten with the old data. There is no easy way to keep settings of new system whilst importing history from the other system. It's a nightmare and a half doing this; trust me.

The easiest way is to remake all the configuration changes from the new system on the old one.

KevinTheJedi yes that's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't care about anything in the new server, as it's brand new, nothing is on it, I want everything from the old on to be transferred to the new one though.

KevinTheJedi So I was able to do all of this, however I'm getting a long error saying "The input is not a valid email address." Even though I copied over the ost-config.php file like you said.

I discovered this error, as a result of a white screen when connecting to the IP address osTicket is being hosted on.

Yea it can’t connect to the database so it’s trying to send you an email but the email address you have configured as the admin email is not a valid email so the alert is failing to send. You need to double check the config info in the config file to make sure everything looks good there.

KevinTheJedi I see, does this mean most likely the password/username is off?

Forgot to mention, the email I used is: "username@domain.com" and is a valid email address that I use.

Something along those lines yea. Even the DBHOST setting might be incorrect, etc. You can even check your MySQL error logs to see if it gives any indication as to what's failing. Might be an issue where you were using a different database user on the old server that does not exist on the new server. Or maybe even just an access issue like some MySQL installs refuse connections from certain hosts (ie. localhost, 127.0.0.1, etc.).
