No. This is a security enhancement to prevent people from browsing other clients attachments.

ntozier Understandable, but unfortunate. I got to thinking that I don't know whether or not the virus scanner software installed on that OS would scan the unknown file type for viruses/malware or not. Will have to do some testing in that regards.

If you copy the entirety of the folder structure, then it will preserve the links that were created in the database so if you go to click an attachment it will pull the correct file.

I happen to be having the exact same problem.. I'm on Win Server 2012, IIS 8.5, PHP 7.2.2, MySQL 5.5, OST 1.15.5. I have the PHP ini max post and upload size set to 250M.. the attachment storage in OST set to 250 mb.. and somehow it doesn't abide by those limits. I can upload images without a problem.. I can upload 7MB videos without a problem. When I try a 30MB video, it fails. I have yet to find a fix..

You may have updated the limit but it sounds like you have not updated the Maximum File Size setting for the Issue Details field. You can do this by going to Admin Panel > Settings > Tickets, scroll to the Attachments section, click on Config next to Ticket Attachment Settings, and update the Maximum File Size setting.

.. and the IIS config..

The server is restarted nightly, so it's a fresh load of the web server, just to make sure all the settings were set properly. I've disabled and re-enabled the local file storage plugin..

There's got to be something I'm not setting..

Interesting. What error do you see when uploading 30 MB video? Do you get the File too large. error in the popup? Also, what field are you trying to upload the video to?

I'm trying to find the actual cutoff of where it error's out.. I was able to get a 17MB file uploaded.. but when I upload a 30MB file.. or 100MB file.. I get this type of error, which was specifically for a 100MB file.

I just tried and a 28.5MB video worked.. but a 29.5MB (and above) didn't..

.. and here's the failed request from the console. Sounds like this might be more of an IIS thing.. The posts to "attach" in the network pane don't show a response..

Right click and Inspect the page, go to the Network tab, make sure to enable the setting to preserve the logs (in network tab), upload the file, and when you see the failed request in the network tab click it. This should contain a more detailed error. Some times it does some times it doesn’t, just depends on what’s happening.

Found it and fixed it!..

For me there's an IIS setting in system.webServer/security/requestFilter -> requestLimits -> maxAllowedContentLength that had a 30MB limit. I updated it to 250MB (in bytes) and my upload problem went away..

I have found the same fix mentioned by typer139 using NGINX and adjusting client_max_body_size 125M;
