SQL server db connection help

I am looking for some advice on what to look for here. We host our own site at our office here and looking to get osTicket working. I am installing osTicket on our web server and trying to point the database at our SQL server. We are running MySQL Server 2012. I followed http://osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6229(http://osticket.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6229) but i am still getting the error. Unable to connect to MySQL server. Possibly invalid login info. I have gone into mysql and verified the user and password and double checked to make sure the user was mapped to my database i created. Any Help will be appreciated GREATLY..

Is osTicket installed on the same server that hosts the MySQL instance?

Thanks for the reply, I had osticket installed on our windows 2012 server IIS. And the mysql was on our app server. In os-config i just pointed the db at the correct location.

Resolved:

I installed mysql on the webserver, where osticket is installed and edited the os-config to point at localhost for the db. The error is no longer poping up and emailing me.

I think in my case it was a connection problem with my app server, sometimes when i RDP to the app server i get a error saying it cannot be found. I click on ok and then connect again and it connects fine.
