php-imap is severely out of date

php-imap is required by osTicket to use some of the email functions, but it relies on a very old library that is no longer maintained (uw-imap). It lacks OpenSSL support beyond 1.0 (which is broken). What are the plans for moving away from php-imap especially in light of the changes that Google is making regarding OAuth access to gmail accounts which are used by myself and many others for the email part of their osTicket system?

We are currently working to add OAuth2 support for IMAP/POP/SMTP. This will have built-in support for Google and MS whilst allowing you to configure a 3rd party provider as well. Of course the php-imap extensions has 0 OAuth2 support so we are replacing it with laminas/laminas-mail package to fetch/send mail. We do not have a set release date but we hope to release it before both MS and Google end LSA support.
