CSV user import problem

Hello, I am unable to import users using the CSV import function under Users -> Import. A forum search revealed that others have had this issue too, but I wasn't able to find a solve for my particular issue, which is pretty straightforward.

I have simplified my .csv file to contain only one entry (for testing purposes). Here's what it looks like:
Email,Name,Phone,Notes george@somedomain.com,George Fitty,3105551212,test
When I attempt to import this .csv into osTicket, it throws an error that reads "Both name and email fields are required"

Any ideas what the issue may be?

This is the correct format for the import.

Email,Name,Phone,Notes

I copied and pasted your format and noticed that you have a space on your first line. So this would likely prevent it from working.

Thanks for the reply. I triple confirmed, and there is no space in the .csv file (I think I just copied and pasted incorrectly here on the forum). Nevertheless, I just copied what you posted above and pasted that into my .csv and tried again. Same error. I'm pretty familiar with .csv files and can find no errors or "gremlins" in mine. I am using BBEdit to create a super simple .csv with just the two lines. I've also tried one line without the header, but had the same issue.

I dug into the code to do some troubleshooting. It appears that the email validation is what is throwing the error. Any reports of bugs with user import or email validation or other ideas to troubleshoot? There are no php errors in my apache logs.

I just confirmed that if I modify the code and remove the email validation check in class.user.php->importCsv then the import works correctly. The email address imports in fine as well (see screen grabs below). Possible bug in the email validation function?

Out of curiosity do you have Admin panel -> Emails -> Settings
Verify Email Addresses enabled?

Yes, Verify email address domain was checked on. I just turned it off, hit save, and tried importing again. Same error.

I'm actually okay now, since I fixed my issue by temporarily removing the validation check in the code. So I was able to import all my users successfully. But if you'd like me to test more for you to determine if it is a flaw, I'm happy to do so. I put all the code back to normal now.

I'll report this thread to the devs to see what they think. They might ask you for a sample of your import file to see what email address is borking the process.

I cannot replicate the same issues with latest develop-next so I believe this has been addressed. You can diff your current instance with develop-next and apply all changes or just wait until the new version is released.
