Audio Alert on New Email

I would like to play an audio alert when a new email is received. Can someone guide to the simplest way this can be done?

I've been thinking about how to identify a new message. Any ideas??

Happy to share that I've managed to add this functionality to my OSTicket installation.

Whenever a new email is downloaded in OSTicket, it plays an audio file which says "You've Got Mail" 🙂
Happy to share the code.

PS: Its a functional but crude solution. I'm sure it can be better integrated.

osTicket isn't really an email client. What you've described is baked into most email clients. So if you have new ticket / new message alerts enabled your email app would notify you when you got a new mail.
