is https://forum.osticket.com/d/77020-configuring-3rd-party-smtp-server/2 still applicable as the docs (https://docs.osticket.com/en/latest/Getting%20Started/Email%20Settings.html#email-settings) allows other conclusions?
We think about to combine osTicket with Nextcloud.org. As nextcloud has its own mail server, we would like to tell osTicket to use that one to allow nextcloud to include osTicket's emails in its activity stream.
make use of a 3rd Party SMTP Server
Your question is pretty vague.
Each configured email address in osTicket has a SMTP and POP/IMAP server that you can configure. Both must use the same account credentials if you are required to use authentication.
You can always add additional email addresses.
You would have to contact your host (nextcloud) to get the specifics to using their mail servers.
ntozier my mistake I'm mixing up things at the end I want that osTicket and our self-hosted https://nextcloud.org/ use the same mail server. That would allow us to have osTicket mail basded events to show up in the activity stream of nextcloud.
Seems that is possible ?
If its just a mail server you can have all kinds of applications use the same server. Thats kinda the point of a mail server. ? So I think you are good.
