Can OSTicket retrieve information from another database?

I'd like OSTicket to show either one of the following.

a) list of tickets with matching value to 1 field entered in the ticket, and shown while editing the fields for a new ticket.

b) search a database/list that i created, and return values or count of the matches.

- create own php file with database connection and querry
- use "include" function, where you need
