After some years of absense, I had a quick look today how this project is going forward.
Mainly because to try it again.
But, as it seems this project is not really moving forwards!
Why?
See that the last stable release 1.10.4 was published last year (17.7.2018).
Same day the latest rc version was published (1.11.0-rc1).
Quit well.
But now I - at as it seems many other - have troubles with these versions.
Why?
Because 1.11.0 is not stable enough, while 1.10.4 has many bugs (which may be solved wuth 1.111.0).
But the main backdraft is the missing support of php 7 - and here 7.1 and 7.2 !
See (quotet from https://forum.osticket.com/d/93347-osticket-on-php-7-x ):
"7.0 is semi supported in 1.10.4. I've been told that if you install under 5.6 you can usually upgrade to 7.0 and be okay. I ran into some wonkiness doing this and reverted to 5.6.
7.1 is not supported, but will be when 1.11 is released.
7.2 is not supported, and I understand will be when 2.0 is released.!"
Well, using php 5.x is not an option at all!
Support for php 5.x has ended, and luckely many providers offer only php 7.x (and this has many reasons and more advantages against 5.x).
Beside this, 1.11.0 has fixed some security bugs.
In the meantime the issues have raised to a sum of 1.415 entries!
Pull requests shows 304 enries.
As it seems, could it be that this project is dead?
Or is the company behind not doing his job?
Suggesting to use php 5.x is the wrong way these days!
So my - and many other too - question is: when will the next stable release be published?
With FULL support for php 7.2!
