Disabling embedded YouTube links

I'm not sure when this started, as I don't often paste in YouTube links into tickets.

Is there a way to prevent the video from becoming embedded when pasted in? I just want a text-only link. I was able to work around by manually adding a link to text, but it takes an extra step or two instead of just pasting.

If you include the https:// at the start of the url it imbeds the video.
If you do no it looks like www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWvKvOViM3g
But honestly I hadn't noticed this.

Huh, that is interesting. At least there's a workaround. Do you know if there's a way to force the behavior to be consistent, or is it a preference somehow than can be configured?

I don't know if there is a way to force the behavior. I will ask the devs.

Just spoke with Kevin and the answer is:

Q: If you paste a link to youtube into the reply box it embeds the youtube video. I noticed that if you leave off the https:// it treats it like any other link. Is there any other way to force it to not embed the video?

A: not really unless you remove the function from the formatter as well as messing with Redactor

So unless you want to dive into the code and muck with it (make a mod) there is no way to do this.
