User ID Number

Our organization assigns our customers an ID number. We would like to include ID number in the user create field and make it searchable. I am not quite sure how to make this happen has anybody done anything like this yet?

Admin panel -> Manage -> Forms -> Contact Information.
Add the field.

Ok. I have added the field and made it required, but now I can't add it to users created prior to adding it to the form. Is there a way to add it to the user directory forms as well?

Also, I am still looking for the scripts to make it searchable. Any idea where the search code is?

To add it to existing users you would have to go to Agent panel -> Users.
Click on the user.
Click on the User again.
Populate the field.

If you have a lot of users you could instead scroll to the bottom of the user list and select Export.
Add the field and then import them all.

Oops hit post to fast.

In order to add the field to the user directory list you would have to edit the core files. This is not something that I have ever tried to do.

ThanIks for the tip on populating it. This is great. I am still in need of making the ID a searchable field, and looking for the php that runs the directory page.

Is there a programming guide somewhere?
