Hello,I have a 1.6ST installation which I have upgraded (via 1.7.5) to 1.9.15. Is there a way that I can perform the upgrade so that the attachments are not stored in the MySQL database but left on the file system? I would much rather not have them in the database.Thanks,
No.But you can install the Storage :: Attachments on the Filesystem plugin and migrate them back to the DB once you have upgraded.
Hello,Sorry for the long delay in replying. I think what you are implying is that, in the end, they have to always be stored in the database. However, what I was looking for is either a way of not storing them in the database at all or, once the upgrade has been done, moving them from the database to the filesystem. Once you have done that you can migrate the attachments back to the filesystem.

I assume that the Storage :: Attachments on the Filesystem plugin extracts them from the database and puts them back onto the file system. Once the Storage :: Attachments on the Filesystem plugin has been installed, will all new attachments be stored on the file system or will they, by default be stored in the database?Many thanks,MikeAnother question
the process of upgrading migrates the attachments to the DB.Installing the Storage :: Attachments on the Filesystem plugin allows you to store attachments on filesystem, then you just have to migrate the ones in the DB back to the Filesystem.
