Using an setting up pages

Setting up osTicket v1.10 on a vanilla debian 8 with apache2 runs without any problem. The main functions are running without any complaints. For my scenario I want to use the function pages.As you can see I can setup pages in the admin area and you can see the link in the front page. But if you click on the link, the browser doesn't find anything - 404 .My question, have I done something wrong? I want to have another page - impress - just text. The creation in the admin area was possible, but I don't have a link that I can really use. What have I done wrong and because its a demo installation I gave 777 to all folder, but this was not the problem. All folders and files belong to apache - www-data.Thank you katasunCan someone help me to get my page - impress or just a text page? Thank you.

404 means not found. Much like the images you seem to be referring to in your post.I think that if you check your apache logs you will see that the 404's are being logged and that there are is a path mentioned. This path and looking at your Apache config and/or .htaccess might tell you why the path isn't being honored by your webserver.

Thank you - here is more information. As I mentioned it is a test installation, but I have the same result on my live server.this is the output from the error.log and I attached the content of the folder pages and the info from the admin area.I haven't changed any .htaccess from the source files yet. Thanks for your help. All I want to do is to have a page with some text. I used the standard installation and I am not able to call this new page. I don't know if I have done something wrong or what settings needs to be done to make it run.Thanks katasun

Well I mean I do not see anything inside that folder pages, is this just a temp folder you created to show us the content? This does not seem properly setup, like you customized it. Why the folder Pages with just two items in there @[deleted]?

Well I thought new created pages will be stored there. I checked the database and I can find the pages there. But I can't call these pages. I can edit them as an Admin. I can see them as a user in the menu, but always page not found.Any idea?

I just noticed that they are there on my install, strange because I could have sworn they were in the main directory where I installed OSTicket. When you say created pages, what exactly are you trying to create?

Thank you for your reply. Because of your comment, I tried again to create pages but I can't access them. The pages are in the database. I was looking for this to be sure that all values are inside.But what is different are my language settings. My site is running in german and the entries in the database contain a field language_id where the langcode is stored.Until now I only installed osticket on debian jessie. You think I should try on another OS? When I know the difference, I can correct them on debian.Regards Katasun

The 1.10 language files haven't been released yet, and the old one cause some issues on the new version.

Today I setup 1.10 on debian 8 with php5 on a virtual box. I tried to setup a "other page", which is working. But I still can't access the site in the browser. The error is alway 404, not found. The host name is localhost.This time only in english, standard theme.Any idea what is left for me to try?Regards Katasun

What version of PHP5 are you using? Also, does the 404 problem not produce logs for you to check and troubleshoot? Can you access the SCP portion and not the client portion? @[deleted]

For this test I used debian 8 with apache2 and maria db. Why is there a .php at the end of the page urls in the errors?osTicket pages do not have file name extensions. So the URL would be something like: support.domain.tld/pages/hellosupport.domain.tld/pages/helloagainAlso you never answered the question as to which version of PHP you are running.

So then why are there .php extensions in your log?My guess is that you have a .htaccess rule or server configurtation that is appending it. Like mod_rewrite or something.

I was trying to append .php to see if this is a solution.I didn't change any configuration files and mod_rewrite is active. No extra .htaccess. I extracted the tar bundle and copied it to /var/www/html/osticket/ thats all.

My problems where caused by the .htaccess file in /pages. ALLOW OVERRIDE is not active by default in the default pages setting from apache. There are three things. First there are no new pages inside the folder /pages when you create new pages in the admin area. I thought maybe there are new files created for new pages. The content of the new pages are stored in the database.You have to be sure that mod rewrite is working for the .htaccess file in the subfolder pages. I added .teston top of the .htaccess file. That should cause an error 500, but there was no reaction.To be sure that .htaccess can work you need the rule ALLOW OVERRIDE ALL for the specific web folder that contains your .htaccessBut the standard apache default pages denies ALLOW OVERRIDE ALL. You need to change that and then to restart the apache - service apache2 restart.After that .htaccess is working. But the default rule was not working like expected. I found some threat with a suggestion, how to solve it and tried it.For the moment the pages are working. But maybe there is better solution.The conclusion is, that the settings of your webserver may not work with the default installation. Maybe it would help to test mod rewrite in the begining of the installation. This would make it easier to debug this topic.Thank you anyway. Katasun
