Hello,

I just installed osTicket 1.7RC4, it seems to be exactly the system I was looking for. I am now trying to configure SMTP mail sending and so far I understood I need to install PHPMailer. The thing is I can't find the right instruction to do so. Can anyone help and give me the step by step. I've been around the forum for hours now.

Thanks in advance and sorry if I ask something that has been answered already, but I really really can't find it.

The server running ost is in my local network, it is running Ubuntu 12.04 and there is no MTA on it, I want to use a SMTP server (outsourced)

Thanks already

You don't need to install anything! Simply go to Admin Panel > Emails tab and enter SMTP info for each of the addresses you want configured.

SMTP settings not show in the Admin --> Emails Tab

I have installed OsTicket 1.7RC4 and the installation did not give me any warning or error so I am assuming all went right.

But I do not see the options that you have mentioned.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and have the LAMP stack installed.

I am attaching a screenshot of my emails tab to this reply.

Please suggest if I am missing a step.

no smtp settings in osticket 1.7 rc4.jpg

That's settings tab. Email tab is to the right of manage.

Sorry, my bad. I was looking at the wrong sub-tab.

I added an email address with the SMTP settings in the Email Tab and it works well.

Thanks Peter.

I also have a problem with the mailing system, i tried to configure the smtp info required and it was impossible for me to succesfully set it. Either the page goes blank and then shows a browser error (like when you can't load a page) or shows an error in smtp configuration.

I even tried setting the values directly in the database but when I created a ticket it didn't send any email. I couldn't make it work with my gmail or hotmail account.

What can i do?

Please upgrade to 1.7ST and if you are still having a problem with this then start your own thread. Also please consult your php Error log and see if any errors are being recorded.
