Documentation on email settings

I am having a huge problem as I am not getting newly created tickets and when a user replies, nothing get added to the ticket that was created. Can I get some help as I can't find any documentation on this. Thank you. - Richard

Why would you add a cron call to the cron.php?from the WikiRecurring tasks scheduler (Cron Job)

Okay, you're right I don't need to add a cron call to the cron.php so I removed that but my question is this: Where in the cron file do I dump the following string? */5 * * * * nobody /path/to/php /path/to/api/cron.php

You don't.That string is an example of how to use crontab to call the file.

Okay, thank you ntozier! I got the file crontab file open that I found in /etc and I am adding my customized line to it. */5 * * * * nobody /usr/bin/php /var/www/html/support/api/cron.phpI will let you know how it goes. - Richard

Sounds like your server doesn't have a MTA installed.You would want to see which flavors are available for your distro and pick one.Chances are its Postfix or EXIM4 or something else... I don't really know since I have never installed or used Linux Mint.

Okay, but does that mean Osticket wont fetch emails every 1 minute?

MTA's are for sending email.

Okay, well this is interesting since we are trying to use exchange mailboxes on a windows server for OS ticket. We are just trying to get email fetching to work with exchange 2010 on Osticket and can't see the connection between installing an MTA on Linux Mint and Exchange 2010.

I am installing Postfix and just am getting confused how to just get a script to run to check email every minute.

MTA is for sending mail. So that the server can handle the mail to your exchange server.It has nothing to do with picking up mail. You would do that via POP or IMAP.

Okay, so how do I get postfix mai over to exchange server?Do I have to configure it to forward all email to an smtp gateway to Exchange? Thank you for all your help by the way.

What I am not understanding is that we have a support mailbox setup in exchange and when someone sends an email, a ticket will eventually get created because auto-cron is on. So in order to check every 2 minutes, I set up the cron job, then install postfix for an MTA and now have to route those emails back into Exchange 2010?
