Outbound mail won't work

Hi Everyone,I'm having some issues with the outgoing mail with some of my osTicket installations.I'm running the latest version of osTicket on a Debian VPS with Apache2 and PHP5 installed on it.The situation:Sending mail with the mail() function works without problems in the "Diagnostics" page, also notifications to the staff members works without problems.But when replying to a ticket the mail nothing happens!There is nothing in the osTicket "Dashboard" Error Log so i'm not really sure what is going on.Als for one of my customers i need to use their Gmail SMTP servers.I'm getting the following error when using SMTP:Unable to email via SMTP.gmail.com Failed to set sender: xx@xx.xx Is there anyone who can help me out on this?Thanks in advance! Would be good if you could be more specific about osTicket and PHP version since sometimes/rarely issues seem to only appear with specific osTicket / PHP version. I've been over it a 1000 times but i don't get it working.Especially the Gmail part is a pain in the ass.After configuring it as stated in the Wiki i'm getting:Failed to connect to ssl://smtp.gmail.com

Stupid question maybe, but did you try port 465 instead of 587?

Really weird.My next idea would be to try connecting via tls://smtp.gmail.com or instead of ssl://... and make sure the "Require Authentication" field is set to YES. Since I never tested Gmail with osTicket maybe the username needs to be "username@gmail.com" instead of just "username" or so, but currently I don't have any other idea.Maybe forum supermoderator @[deleted] has also some ideas here.

you enabled your gmail account to be able to do this at gmail?Do you have any firewalls? Are you running SELinux?

I'd check (search the web) for the used firewall on a default installation (iptables, ufw, etc.) and find then out which status and/or rules are applied (or not).Are you running SELinux?>> No i do not, is it advised to do so?No everything is fine, usually when it's enabled it's causing more problems than it really helps ;)
