Can't Enable "Sending Email via SMTP" in Admin Panel

If I toggle the "enable" radio button under the Sending Email via SMTP section and then click the Save Changes button the page returns the spinning 'Loading' image and then after a while returns a blank page. Going back into the admin panel to this page shows the enable function was not changed or saved.version is: osTicket-v1.9.8.1

Does enabling this settings attempt to contact the email server to verify the settings?

Resolved.System must be verifying server connection.I changed port numbers and settings saved successfully.
