500 internal server error

i upgraded another site i have from 1.7x to 1.9.7 following the steps from here (http://www.tmib.net/how-upgrade-osticket-17st-172) - when i try to reload the webpage on step 6 i get 500 internal server error - is there something i can check, review or try to understand what is causing this failure?Internal Server Error

please close this thread. i just deleted everything, installed php 5.3 and then installed the 1.9.7 as a clean install. no upgrade. i've seen pictures of it, but so far it's never worked for me between 2 versions.
