how is the reply address build up?

Hi, my server has received some reconfiguration and changed names. Seems this is causing some problems in my sender email address.I am figuring out how the reply email adres is constructed by os-ticket. I have checked the whole configuration of os ticket and the database but it seems to me the full sender email addess is constructed based on the hostname or something else i have missed. I am using a debian machine and exim as mta and a smarthost to send the mail.Some suggestions how the structure after the @ is constructed is welcome.... due the rename the replys to the osticket mailbox are not deliverd.osticket version 1.9.8thankseelco

Admin panel -> Emails.Configure the email that you are using here.

Thanks , i have checked this and the address here is the correct email address but if i look in the exim logging i see the www-data account is sending mails as www-data@the.old.hostnameShould i change something in the php config file or in the apache config files ? hostname -a and hostname -f show the right new servername

If I understand you correctly, No - osticket does not use the "Hostname" field to construct the email address at all. It only uses that to find what server it needs to send an email through.Example - if you were sending emails through GMAIL - you would put smtp.gmail.com in that field (and the correct port in the port field)."Email address" however, will send exactly as you enter it... So, for example, if you put "eegraaff@gmail.com", that is how it would send it. There is no construction on the email address that gets sent - it is pure WYSIWYG - and it is up to the host on whether what you entered is correct or not.If you are entering, for example, "eegraaff@gmail.com" and it is sending "eegraaff@the.old.hostname" - I would check your php and mail server settings

Hum, that is exact what is puzzeling me. asume eelco@gmail.com has been changed to edg@hotmail.comOS Ticket email information settingsi change the email adres from eelco@gmail.com to edg@hotmail.comi leave the email name as it is eelco de graaffI expect in the old situation i receive a mail from eelco de graaff <eelco@gmail.com> and when i reply this mail it will be send to eelco de graaff at gmail.com then i change the email adress the rest stays and i expected to send a mail as eelco de graaff at hotmail.com (eelco de graaff <edg@hotmail.com. and the reply on this mail will be send to my hotmail account. It seems in this current situation the webinterface show me the new email adres, so it looks changed but when the emails are beeing send the will be send with the old email adress.what i will change is also the email name .. maybe this is related ..could you also tell me where the info is in the database so i can check it in records in the database.I have also toggelded the sending email with smtp on and off. the machine is running exim for smtp and dovecot for imapSeems when i switch off the smtp option mail will be send by php as www-data and when switched on mail will be dropped directly to the exim machine

After you make the change try clearing your cache.If that doesn't work try these:1. check your PHP.ini for the sendmail_from directive.2. delete the email. Add the new one.3. Check Admin panel -> Settings -> Emailscheck the default emails there.4. Check Admin panel -> Agents -> Departmentscheck the autoresponse email there.

I have checked them all , and this is what happens.When i change the email address to ticketos@gmail.com the mail is send correctly and the reply adress in the mail is correct so it works ok. But when i change it back to the preferred new domain name it swiched back to the old server name. The most puzzeling is, when i look in the exim logging, the mail is sended with the right sender adress as far as i kan see in exim, the delivery address is also correct, but when the mail is delivered in the email box on the system that accepts the mail the old servername (domain name) is showing again ...I am willing to share with you the exact example with the true names to be able to analyse whats gooing on, and when it is some sort of caching .. where should i reset the cache? I have examed php.ini, the database, and so on .. i am puzzeled.. since the gmail test works like a charm. Hum i am using a smartrelay host ... is he... eh .. hum .. rewriting the domain name ... .. i wil check this one that could cause this strange behaviourkeep your posted
