[resolved] Upgrade from Version 1.9.5.1 to the latest stable version : V 1.9.6

Dear All;I was wondering about upgrading my ticketing system from Version 1.9.5.1 to the latest stable version : V 1.9.6For your information I'ml using osTicket Version v1.9.5.1 (1faad22) with Apache Web Server ; MySQL DB V 5.5.42 & PHP V 5.3.29.My question is about the obligation to upgrade my system. Else, what could be the risks.Thank you for your feedbackML

Since there are always a lot bugs fixed, it's usually recommended to upgrade to the latest version.Your system data looks good (PHP, MySQL version, etc.) and the upgrade shouldn't be a problem.Regarding the upgrade process itself, just take a look at the following topic, where I explained the upgrade process in detail:http://forum.osticket.com/d/discussion//resolved-upgrade-to-latest-release#latestCheers,Michael

Hi Chefkeks and thank you for your feedback.I'm coming back to you concerning the procedure that you propose on the link (http://forum.osticket.com/d/discussion//resolved-upgrade-to-latest-release#latest) : I've many question that may appear to you very easy since it's the first time i'm using an open source solution.May you please help me?My questions concern 3 steps : step 1 / step 5 / step 71 - Concening step 1 (Backup) :--------------------------------------------I'm usiong OS Ticket on a SubDomain ... So, the Hosting Service Provider gives many tools to backup database and Web Site Directory, but not the Sub Domain directories : I need to know please, How can I backup the osTicket installation directory ? Can I just back up the subdomain directrory via an FTP Access ?2 - Concening step 5 (Copy all files from the folder "upload" over your osTicket installation directory) :------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I need to know, please, what I must to do : Do I need to copy the content from the latest version "upload" diretory to the existing "upload" diretory?I'm afraid of risks of overwriting existing files in the old "upload" directory on the FTP Server.3 - Concening step 7 (Database upgrade) :-----------------------------------------------------------I need to know, please, if the upgrade will depend on the databse upgrades that are available on the latest version, compared to my existing Database.I mean that there will be no actions that I need to act manually ... 1) Q: Can I just back up the subdomain directrory via an FTP Access ?A: Yes - exactly the same way you copied the files onto the server, just grab them from their ;)2) Q: Do I need to copy the content from the latest version "upload" diretory to the existing "upload" diretory?A Yes. Regarding the risk of overwriting: You should make sure to backup the directory (Question No. 1) just in case something goes wrong.3)Q: I mean that there will be no actions that I need to act manually ... I'll go the SCP page that, if there are updates, there will be operated via the SCP page. right ?A: Yes, when the database scheme is changed, the upgrade wizard in the SCP will automatically appear, so you can upgrade your database. When the database scheme is still the same and nothing (except the files in the installation/upload directory) changed, there will be no upgrade page in SCP. Btw. under Admin Panel > Dashboard > System Information you should check the version number after the upgrade to be sure everything went fine.

To expand on question 3: In this specific case (upgrading from 1.9.5 to 1.9.6) there are no database upgrades, so all you have to do is copy the contents of the upload folder (and sub-directories) over the top of your existing files (new files overwriting existing files, leaving files in place if there is not a newer one ) . Afterward you'll see a message in your admin panel to delete or rename your setup directory. Once you have removed the setup directory, everything should look pretty much as it did before. I just did this last week from one of the 1.9.5 RC versions to 1.9.6, and it was quick and easy.

mso-ansi-language-US;mso-bidi-font-weight" lang="EN-US">Email Piping was not operationnal ; So, I need to change the CHMOD of the pipe.php file to 755 2 - The Background of the end user portal needed to be restored 3 - The "Powered By" Logo needed to be restored 4 - there were some changes on the code and that needed to be restored again.But, at the final, every thing was OKThank you veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy muchGood by
